Blackhawks win Back to Back National Championships with 44-24 Victory over Raiders

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (December 11, 2012) — Well they did it again! The Inglewood Blackhawks (17-0) defeated the previously unbeaten California Raiders by the score of 44-24 in the 2012 National Football Events/Western Football News National Championship Game. The win gave the Blackhawks their 39th straight victory and Back to Back National Championships. Last year they defeated the New York Predators 34-31 in Deland Florida. The Blackhawks 17-12 at half-time behind the strong running of Brian Flowers who carried the ball 21 times for 147 yards and 2 TD’s. Fullback Raymar Adams and Quarterback Brandon Brooks also scored touchdowns on the ground giving the Blackhawks 4 rushing TD’s on the day. Brooks was also solid through the air throwing for 214 yards and 1 touchdown. His lone touchdown was a 43 yard strike to WR, Deshawn Edmond in the 3rd quarter.

Defensively, the Blackhawks were led by linebacker Leon Friend who had a day for the ages. Friend, who proposed to his girlfriend at half-time in front of the large crowd, contributed on the field as well recording 5 tackles, 1 interception, 2 pass defenses, a blocked punt, fumble recovery, and a touchdown. His performance earned him the 2012 National Championship Game MVP. His counterpart Roy Otis contributed tremendously with 8 tackles and a sack while making some timely tackles. Cornerback, Eddie Hunter came up big in the game as well intercepting a Robert Fuller pass and returning it 67 yards during a crucial part of the contest. Former Super Bowl Champ Manny Wright came up huge as well with 5 tackles and a sack of his own.

The Blackhawks finish the season as the 2012 National Champions with a 17-0 record. The Blackhawks have not lost a game dating back to October 2, 2010. That’s a record of 48-1 which is an amazing feat. “I’m overwhelmed with the way we handled our business this season”, stated Blackhawk head coach Tony Reid. Going undefeated, completing the 3-peat, breaking the national scoring record (903 points), and winning back to back national titles is amazing. This team will be in the record books for a long time.

It will be a battle of unbeatens in this year’s National Football Events/Western Football News national championship game.

The contest to determine minor league football’s top team is scheduled for 3 p.m. Dec. 8 at Jackie Robinson Stadium in L.A.

The Inglewood Blackhawks, currently ranked No. 1 in the nation, are 16-0 this season and own a 38-game winning streak. They won the LCFL title.

They will be facing the California Raiders, who are 15-0 with a 28-game winning streak. They are champions of the UAFL.

Inglewood averages 66.0 points per game, while giving up just 6.5 per contest.

Offensively, the Blackhawks are paced by quarterback Brandon Brooks, who has passed for 2,778 yards and 48 touchdowns, running back Brian Flowers, who has 1,159 yards and 15 TDs on the ground, and wide receiver Solomon Jones, who has 1,346 yards and 24 TDs on receptions. Flowers and Jones are ex-Inglewood High School standouts.

Defensively, there are a number of playmakers.

Linebackers Leon Friend, Roy Otis, and Deon Laffitte have been exceptional all season. Anchoring the front is Manny Wright, a member of last year’s Super Bowl champion New York Giants, and ex-Morningside High and Fresno State star Marlon Brisco. Eugene Childs, Michael Gilliam, Ray Ross, and Curtis Perkins man the secondary spots
